I don’t care if you’ve

I don’t care if you’ve read the books. I don’t care if you aren’t big on fantasy movies. I just don’t care…because you simply must see the Lord of the Rings trilogy. That being said, the “Return of the King” was the greatest. It was over 3 hours long, but it never felt like a 3 hour movie and when it was over, I still wanted more. I didn’t have to take a restroom break but if I did, I would have sat there until my eyes were floating and I could no longer enjoy the visual masterpiece before me. It was incredible. I applaud Mr. Sean Astin. He carried this show and he carried it with ease. I’m not sure if I’ve ever felt so close to a movie character. If I ever have to go on a mission to some strange place with unusual and dangerous creatures I hope I have a Samwise Gamgee tour guide!

Then today, my handsome husband and I went to Peter Pan. Okay, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. Part of me thought “how many times can this movie be redone and still be interesting”. The other part of me thought “Can you over do a classic?”. From what I gathered from the previews this was a “big screen” movie. Well, after seeing it, I am now of the mind that you can’t over do a classic and it IS a big screen movie. There are very few movies made these days that can entertain everyone in the family. This was a family flick, all the way and an excellent reproduction. I think this movie followed the story book version of the tale more closely than movies of the past. I must also commend the casting for this movie. Jeremy Sumpter delivered an excellent performance. He gave the character, Peter Pan, a little more depth than we’ve seen in the past. I felt like I could get so much just from the expression on his face. Jason Isaacs was superb also. He was deliciously villainous yet truly endearing. It was superb and I highly recommend for the family or those of you adults, like my hubby and I, who are just over-grown kids.

1. What was your biggest

1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year? This was the toughest question of all. I don’t think there were any huge accomplishments for me. I’m living a life of quiet splendor with my husband. Since that is the life I’ve longed for I think that is a pretty good accomplishment.

2. What was your biggest disappointment? My parents (well, my Mom and her partner) split up.

3. What do you hope the new year brings? More of the quiet splendor. More time with my handsome husband and with any luck a family addition might be nice.

4. Will you be making any New Year’s resolutions? If yes, what will they be? I’ve never been big into the resolution idea, I doubt this year will be much different.

5. What are your plans for New Year’s Eve? New Year’s eve is kind of special for me. The 1999/2000 New Year’s eve was the night that my handsome husband proposed to me. It was also the first night that my company started hosting an annual reception and fireworks display. We didn’t go to the reception or display because we were living in this tiny rental house right across the river from where I work. We went up onto the roof to see the fireworks and afterwards he proposed. So, we’ve gone to see the fireworks display ever since. It is kind of special to me. It reminds me of that night on the roof.

American Soldier by Toby Keith

American Soldier
by Toby Keith

I’m just trying to be a father,
Raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother,
Everything to everyone.
Up and at ‘em bright and early,
I’m all in my business suit,
Yeah, I’m dressed for success from my head down to my boots,
I don’t do it for money, there’s still bills that I can’t pay,
I don’t do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for our future’s my responsibility,
Yeah I’m real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
And I can’t call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been to strong,
I just work straight through the holidays,
And sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I’m solid, hey I’m steady, hey I’m true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I’ve counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice,
Oh, and I don’t want to die for you,
But if dyin’s asked of me,
I’ll bear that cross with an honor,
‘Cause freedom don’t come free.
I’m an american soldier, an american,
Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand,
When liberty’s in jeopardy I will always do what’s right,
I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight. American soldier, I’m an American,
An American,
An American Soldier

Merry Christmas to all the American soldiers and their families. Some soldiers can’t be with their families this Christmas and some may be coming home to their families but not to celebrate, rather to be laid to rest. As I celebrate the birth of Jesus, I’m also thinking about the people who are doing what they can to ensure I am able to celebrate for years to come. Merry Christmas and thank you.

And now time for the

And now time for the :

If you were given a bottomless cash supply to use for Christmas presents but only if you donated $5,000 to a charitable cause(s) who/what would you give $5,000 to?There are so many wonderful charitable causes out there. I could probably analysze a list for hours and try and distribute it to so many that in the end each would be getting only a few dollars. So, in the end it would be best to just give it to something I feel passionately about. That would be the local human society and/or ASPCA.

*Bonus: How would you spend your Christmas money and on whom? Oh, if only this were true. Every family member and friend would get a Christmas present.

My handsome husband: A DVD Burner, a secret gift that I can’t say cause he reads this and might get it someday, an mp3 player, a scottish claymore…I’m sure there is more, but I can’t think of it now.
The Roberts’: A wide screen TV
Mom: A professional website for her catering company
Debi: Tickets to a Seatle Seahawks homegame with of course a nice trip to go along with it.
Dad & Teresa: Some significant Marilyn Monroe memorabilia for Dad. I’d probably have to spend some time with Teresa to try and get some good ideas for her.
Mike & Lea: Computer classes (ha! just kidding). Mike would get a cool Deadpool or Silver Surfer bust and Lea would get a day spa package.
Bud: He’s at the age where he’d probably just want cash.
Drew: I think cool toys are still the way to go with Drew
John: Another one that could probably use some $.

Dang that is just the beginning of the family. I’ll probably have to finish later.

A Rainbow’s Arrival A bio

A Rainbow’s Arrival

A bio too far-fetched
To believe it was real;
My memoir…my storm cloud;
My so-called-life revealed.

Riddled with wrongdoing,
Sorrow and expulsion;
Clutching reality
Despite my revulsion.

You entered the picture.
Sheltered in your embrace,
The clouds dissipated;
Fear & sadness erased.

Nothing can touch me now,
In my world of rainbows.
Tangled up in your love,
My passion I bestow.

The Thursday Threesome
::The Christmas Song, Part II::

Onesome: Chestnuts– Okay, just which Christmas food won’t you touch? I mean, even when Auntie Sarah is serving it up with a big smile! I don’t like candied yams/sweet potatoes. Blech!

Twosome: Roasting Then again, which Christmas food are you willing to risk life and limb for, even when Uncle George is between you and the platter? Okay, other than the sweet potatoes, I’m not too picky. Everything else makes me pretty darn happy.

Threesome: on an open fire Heh. This line reminds me of a joke! Do you have a favorite bit of holiday humor? How about it? What comes up every christmas is the year my little brother thought it would be a good idea to crack a half dozen eggs on my head while I slept. Funny now, but not at all funny back then. Okay, okay, everyone else thought it was pretty funny back then too.

Wednesday Whatevers
1. Do you think the capture of Saddam Hussein will be basically the end of our Iraqi problems, or may lead to more? Explain.
It isn’t over yet. It is a big step in the right direction, but there is still a little more to come. I’d like to see OBL in custody before it is all over too.
2. How do you make boring situations (i.e.: parties) more interesting?
Cute idiosy. It is my forte. I can be an adorable lunatic and light up any party in the process. I can’t really explain it, but anyone that knows me could probably understand.
3. Do you believe in the relative or absolute truth? What? Uhm, I have no idea how to answer that, I’m not sure what the difference is.
