There Will Be No Crying In My Womb!

Today on the the calendar it says:

Your little one’s vocal cords develop! And another change has taken place — your baby’s intestines are now contained within the abdomen.

This early in the game, our baby is already working on those screaming abilities. And as far as the intestine stuff is concerned…that’s just crazy!

As for Mom…I’m starting to feel a little better. I didn’t have any morning sickness, but I had really bad fatigue. I was taking naps every night and still tired throughout the day. I’m down to just a couple naps a week, with off and on fatigue during the day. These days, the fatigue is off more than it is on and that is nice. Of course getting to work at 6:30 am this morning is probably going to ruin my good streak, but what can you do?

The Greatest Boss Ever!

Well, yesterday, I received the most gorgeous flowers from my old boss. After departing the company to “pursue other opportunities” (yeah right…), he’s moved out of country to his homeland to be closer to his family. As much as I hate the fact that he’s gone, I’m also so happy for him. I’ve talked about what an awesome boss he was. I’ve read some very vicious articles about what a tyrant boss he is and that is the real reason he was muscled out. I just laugh and shake my head. That crap couldn’t be farther from the truth. Here is just one piece of evidence to the contrary:

With a card that reads, “We’ve landed! Thanks for all your help. Good luck with the new family. Former Boss & Former Bosses Wife” <– Of course they used their real names, but I’ve changed out of respect for their anonymity.

Oh how I miss the warm, friendly, caring boss I once had.

Maternity Clothes

Well, I broke down and ordered my first two maternity outfits. I haven’t gained any weight yet, but my clothes just don’t fit right. There are so many things that I can’t wear at all. I tried to put on my favorite jean short yesterday….nope…not happening. Over the weekend, I had hoped to wear jeans to my friend’s birthday dinner, but again…not happening. So, these days it is elastic waist or bust. Literally!

So, I purchased a work outfit:

and a casual outfit:

I won’t be buying many casual clothes, because cheap Wal*Mart sweats and Thrift Store purchases will suit me just fine…but I need at least one or two outfits I can wear out.

Sprout…The Acrobat!

My doctor’s visit was so amazing yesterday. We got to see baby Sprout moving all over the place. He/She was moving arms and legs and even did a flip at one point. We have some great pictures too. We got 5 pictures out of the deal and 3 are really good. As soon as Mike has a few minutes, I’ll get him to scan them so I can post. It was a great visit. I can’t believe I have to wait until the 20th of October for my next visit. They won’t be doing an ultrasound for that one either. But in 8 weeks, they will do the next ultrasound and we hope to find out the gender.

I can’t wait!

Yittle, Bitty Sprout

On Friday, September 10th, the calendar said:

Tiny phallus forms which could be penis or clitoris; perineum formed.

There is a picture of this in one of my books and it is the craziest thing. It is a picture of genitalia that so eerily resembles both sexes it is bizarre. Then I was reading about how the intestines start developing outside of the baby along the umbilical cord. Then once the baby is large enough to accomodate they manage to get inside. How in the heck does that happen?? More and more, each day, I realize how much of a miracle pregnancy and child birth is.

Then on September 11th:

Urethral fold extends into phallus, and genitalia now show male characteristics if a boy.

…and from what I can tell, at the end of this week, girl parts would be formed. The downside to all this genitalia forming is that we still aren’t going to be able to see it in an ultrasound. That is probably still about 9 weeks away.

On September 15th:

Your baby’s face now has a human profile and prominent chin. The iris is forming: his/her eyelids will temporarily fuse shut.

Oh, I try to imagine our baby’s face. What parts will look like Mike? What parts will look like me? Will he/she have Mike’s brown eyes, or the very prominent blue/green eyes from my Dad’s side. You know typically, I wouldn’t question this one, since odds are in favor of the brown eyes, but you have no idea how prominent the eyes are on my Dad’s side. My Dad has them….all of his siblings…his children (both from different wives and one with brown eyes)…his grandchildren…my cousins. It seems to me that it is a possibility. I dream of my eye color with Mike’s dark, thick hair and long, curly eyelashes. His complexion would be nice. As far as mouth and nose, we are both pretty cute in that area. I have teeny, tiny ears. That would be cute on a baby, but Mike’s hearing is sooooo much better than mine.

The possibilities are endless and it is fun to day dream, but truth be told, I really just want this little one to be healthy and strong.

As For The Productive Part

Then on Sunday, we rearranged the computer room, as well as moved some furniture into the computer room that was previously in the dining room. It was productive, however, it has also created quite a mess that we’ve yet to tackle.

There is so much more I’d like to get done in the next several months. I’d really like to start re-organizing our second level and start getting ready for the baby. In addition to the fatigue that still seems to be lingering, I also worry that it is too early to start taking these kind of projects on…so I’m still waiting a few more weeks, at least.

Catching Up

What a lovely & productive weekend. On Saturday night, a good friend came over for a fun-filled and delicious day of Sushi for lunch…Soul Calibur 2 for entertainment….Greek for dinner. Stop by Dead Batteries in the Remote Control and wish him a big Happy Birthday!

The company was great. The sushi left a little to be desired. I’m limited on what I can eat since I can’t eat anything raw during my pregnancy. So, many of my favorite dishes were not an option. So, I ordered only cooked rolls, but even they were sub-par. The California rolls were very good, but you can’t really screw up a California roll, can you? The crunchy rolls (tempura shrimp) were good too. The dragon roll wasn’t very good and that is usually one of my favorites, but the Unagi wasn’t de-boned very well and I have serious issues with bones, gristle, cartilage and fat in my food. We also got a Spider roll but I wasn’t terribly fond of the soft shelled crab. I had some shrimp Nigiri, but it absolutely didn’t compare to my usual & favorite salmon Nigiri. So, I must say, I left there a little disappointed.

Then we went home for some Soul Calibur 2. The boys were lucky that I managed to stay awake, because I got hit right upside the head with the pregnancy fatigues just a few games into it. I sure didn’t want to nap while company was over!

For dinner we went to Katies for Greek cuisine. This totally made up for the sushi experience. Oh man, did it ever make up for it! We shared and appetizer platter with Saganaki, Spanikopita, Tzatsiki, Feta, olives and pita bread. Yum! Then we both ordered their Saturday special which was a combination plate with Moussaka, Souvlaki, Dolmathes, Gyro meat, vegetables, Greek potatoes and Tzatziki. Of course I couldn’t even finish half of it. Still managed to order dessert though! We both ordered a vanilla cream cheese dessert in filo dough. I can’t even touch the magnificence of this meal. I’m ready for more!
