It’s no Thai Spice…

…but it still rocks my world!

Pad Thai In a Box

Only the noodles and the sauce are included. You purchase, vegetables, meat, tofu and egg seperately. It is really quite yummy. Next time, I think I’ll add some heat.

You Know You Are Living In 2005 When…

Well, a co-worker sent this to me and I got a kick out of it, since I could TOTALLY relate. In fact, I’m very guilty of #4-6!

A Telling Tale

I love my hubby’s most recent post to his blog. It really strikes a cord with me, because it is so true. Stop by his blog to see some chubby, cherubic and cheerful pictures of my sweet baby boy and a great post.

“…it’s a little glimpse of heaven when your child smiles at you. And time just stops. When he’s smiling, nothing else matters.”

Pearly Whites

Gabe cut his first tooth over the weekend. I can’t really see it yet, but I can feel it. It is interesting how these different landmark occasions effect Mike and I differently…but the same.

Remember when we started Gabe on cereal? I had a really hard time with that. It broke my heart a little to think about my little baby growing up. Mike was excited and didn’t really understand why I was sad. Now, with the new tooth, Mike is feeling a little blue knowing that his little baby is growing up so fast and I’m excited about the new tooth. I am sympathetic though. I know the feeling…kind of excited for the new experience and a little sad all at the same time.

Oh and have I mentioned how big my little boy is? Yup, he is quite the oxymoron, my big little boy. At his 6-month appointment, he weighed in at nearly 21 lbs. His cousin, Perilee, weighed in around 18-19 at her 6-month appointment. His other cousin, Alex, just weighed in at 19 lbs for her 1-year appointment. His older cousin, Cathy, (I think she is about 10 yrs old) asked why Alex was walking and Gabe was not. This would seem like a very good question, since he is actually bigger than Alex…but a whopping 6 months younger!

One thing is for sure. He had better start walking soon, because he is getting to heavy to carry!

Just Breathe

Cause you can’t jump the track,
we’re like cars on a cable,
And life’s like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
And breathe, just breathe
Whoa breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe.

I have heard this song a few times and enjoyed the melody but I listened to the words today and it gave me chills. My mother and I were just having a conversation about how different people react to the trials and struggles of life differently. For example, I have survived a great deal in my lifefrom childhood molestation, witness to domestic violence, parental abandonment, drug addiction and more. I could let these things devastate me. I could repeat the pattern. I couldbut I choose a different path. I choose to grow from this. I look at these trials and realize that they have made me strong. These obstacles were placed before me for a reason. They are the stepping-stones that I needed to become the person I am today. Sometimes I was a victim of circumstance. Sometimes I placed myself in these situations. I have made mistakes that I am not proud to admit. I believe I learned from them. I am sure I will continue to make mistakes and I plan on learning from them as well.

Why do I bring this up? I have friends and family that are treading on their own stepping-stones right now. Just remember, you cant go back in time. You cant change the past. You can choose to grow from it. You can choose to become a better person because of it. You can pave the way to a better future.

There’s a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout
‘Cause you’re just as far in as you’ll ever be out
These mistakes you’ve made,
you’ll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

Dont look for the rewind buttonit isnt there. Just stop for a second, relax and breathe. DONT TURN AROUNDjust move forward to the light at the end of the tunnel.

A Day At The Zoo

Mike, Gabe and I spent our Saturday at the zoo. I LOVE THE ZOO! I had a wonderful time and got some good pictures. For the most part, Gabe is to young to enjoy the animals, but he really seemed to enjoy spending the day outside. I got some decent pictures, but next time, I really need to go with friends or family, so there can be a few picture of the three of us.
