So, tell me what you think about this…

Officials: Dad kills neighbor accused of molesting girl

…and what should the penalty be for the father that stabbed the alleged molester?

Holy Flargin Snit!

My monitor just died! My nice flat-panel Dell monitor just died and I’m so peeved. It won’t power on at all. I was right in the middle of submitting my Avon order when the screen went black. Of course I seriously panicked thinking that my entire laptop bit the dust, so at least it was just the monitor…but I have to admit, that isn’t really comforting to me right now. The hubby is sleeping, so I can’t even beg him to check it out. Not that there is anything he could do. I’ve checked the connections and everything appears to be connected.

I think it is probably still under warranty…I hope it is anyway.

In other news I start a new job back at my old company on Tuesday. I haven’t talked about it much, because I’m trying not to think about it. I’ve been spoiled by my summer at home and thinking about going back brings on mass amounts of tears. I’m sure it will be fine, once I get back into the swing of things. I have a few days of freedom left, so I’m going to live in a happy state of denial for the next few days…or at least try to live in a happy state of denial.

Wish me luck on both the monitor and my denial.

Update: A cat switched off my UPS, so my Uninteruptable Power Supply was interupted! You see, this is why Mike is never allowed to sleep when there is a techno-crisis!

Work Talk on a Friday?

Happy FFAF, from JL at Esoteric Renaissance!

I actually do like my job, such as it is. I have no intentions of working in customer service and tech support the rest of my life. But, it pays the bills, is a shift that works with my needs outside the office, and keeps my brain occupied. So, it’s not a terrible way to make money while I work at more creative pursuits.

The one thing I would change is many of my co-workers. I will never understand why we insist on hiring people who may have wonderufl people skills, but know nothing about computers. We’re a software company. You need to know how a computer works in order to understand how the software works before you can tell someone else how to fix the problem.

In The News – First Installment

Every day I spend an appreciable amount of time reading on-line news articles. Some of the articles are local, some are global. I often send my hubby a link to an article with some commentary. So, I thought, why not post them.

Iowa Police: HIV-Infected Man Charged With Sexually Abusing Teens

I think this guy should be charged with attempted murder! My Mom said it best when she said there is a special place in Hell for this guy.

Jilted man built shrine of former girlfriend’s underwear

Can you say FREAK? Big F-Big R-Big E-Big A-Big K!!!

Naked performance with dead pig branded “sick”

Art? What the hell…any one that says the following is certifiable.

“The work left me with an undercurrent of pigginess, unexpected fantasies of mergence and interspecies metamorphoses began to flicker into my consciousness; making fiercely tender and ferocious identifications with the pig as stand in, double, twin, doll, imaginary self.”

Two of those “words” aren’t even real words. Perhaps she is a certifiable artist…but I can’t believe that people are going to pay to see this. This is one of the few times that I actually side with the animal rights activists.

Flight passengers describe hours of bizarre behavior

“Passengers initially assumed the men who restrained Mrs. Mayo were federal air marshals but yesterday said they were passengers recruited by flight attendants who provided them with handcuffs.”

Chalk one up for the heroes among us. While most of the time, I find the news apalling…sometimes I get a glimpse of the everyday heroes around us. I’m so grateful to be able to read about humanity at it’s finest.

Thank you and that is all.

Crazy night…

I just spent an hour and a half sitting alone in a completely dark building.  I’m not easily spooked, but I felt a little uneasy there.  It’s a new building, and is still doing some settling.  Loud banging noises occurred periodically with no obvious source.  I was there to clean the building.  It’s difficult to do that without light or power.  A vacuum cleaner is surprisingly useless without electricity.  No matter how much you roll it over a rug, the rug never gets cleaner.  Although…  When you can’t see the dirt anyway it doesn’t make a lot of difference, I suppose.  In fact…  Now that I think about it, as far as I know the building was clean when I got there.  So…  Mission accomplished.

Listening to Coast to Coast AM doesn’t make sitting alone in a dark, strange building any more comforting either…

I’m not really complaining.  I just downloaded this Windows Live Writer blogging tool, and I wanted to check it out.  If this post actually gets published, then I have to say it’s pretty keen.

(Update:  It worked.)

Waxing Hollywood Gossip

I’ve been debating as to whether or not I wanted to post on such a trite issue…but since most of my posts are pretty insignificant in the scheme of things, whey the heck not. While the catalyst for this post may be a trite issue, I assure you the content is not. So, earlier this week you heard about Mel Gibson’s drunken tirade. Unless, of course, you live under a rock.

Well, I’d like to point out that we are forgetting the bigger issue at hand. To parrot the words of my very wise husband, it isn’t illegal to hate someone, a group of people, a race of people, etc. It is illegal to drive while intoxicated. That is the crime here, folks. You see DUI is a nice way of saying “attempted involuntary manslaughter”. Mr. Gibson endangered his life, but more importantly he endangered the lives of others. I’m afraid that while everyone is making so much noise about his hateful words, his crime is going to be swept under the rug, like most Hollywood crimes. I’d hate to see that happen. He needs to be punished for his crime. His hate will be handled at a different time.

The Adventures of Shatterstar

So, I get up this morning and I’m putting away the dishes that were in the dishwasher and I find Shatterstar hanging out in the pantry. He’s quite the dare devil too. He’s barely hanging on, fortunately, his sword is strong. I go on about my business as I feel confident that Shatterstar will be just fine.

Never fear! He made it out of his pantry pan predicament and now he’s hanging from the butcher block BY HIS PONYTAIL! Will he make it out of this sticky situation?!? Stay tuned…same bat time, same bat channel.

 My son is so much fun.

Sleep Struggles Ensue

Gabey hasn’t been sleeping very well during the night for about a week. His daytime naps have been growing longer and longer. So, we’ve discussed the idea of cutting his daytime naps back to see if that helps with the overnight problem.

Well, Gabe has a different idea. I think it goes something like this, “I’ll nap when I want to nap and there’s nothing you can do about it!”
